Physical insurance

  • See health list in Trello goals, and Gdoc
  • Avoid accidents: speed related (particularly on two wheels), avoid head knocks, gym – warm up, no watch, form, no bounce – hold instead. 
  • Protection in case of home invasion
    • Weapon under bed and in living room: knife for thrusting + bar for bashing, with hand loop.
    • Law: Reasonable force to defend home or self. Don’t take axe to a fist fight, or attack when they are fleeing.
  • Don’t walk alone in unsafe places
  • Always know the fire exit and have a clear path to it (dream of cannabis smokers accidentally setting building alight, 09-20).

Financial insurance

  • Home and car insurance
  • SPIC for investment accounts
  • Contents insurance: If robbed, apply for insurance and buy new stuff. Not a big deal.
  • Travel insurance (particularly medical in the US)

Multiple sources of cash

  • See cards list in GSht
  • Always have 3 sources of accessible cash when travelling. Don’t keep cards in same wallet. Use moneybelt.
  • Copy of passport in Evernote and Dropbox.

Will

  • Footprint. Told Mum and Dad, and sister.
  • Uploaded list of assets to myfootprint.co.nz including names of agents for Portugal (leasing agent, tax agent, advertising site), and name of bank contact in Portugal for mortgage (20-1-20).

What to do if you lose your wallet

  1. Carry as little as possible in your wallet.
  2. Photocopy or Dashlane/LP all of your cards and IDs for future reference.
  3. But if you lose it:
    1. File with police online
    2. Notify all banks that issued you credit or EFTPOS cards. 48 hours before liable.
    3. Go online and check for any fraudulent charges.
    4. Call the major credit bureaus and to request a fraud alert on your credit line.
    5. Get new driver’s licence.
